ODL Empowerment Evaluation
. The Office of Diversity and Leadership conducted an Empowerment Evaluation on August 31, 2007 at the Arrillaga Alumni Center.
Dr. Hannah Valantine set the tone for the activity. She explained that the purpose of the exercise was to crystalize the mission of the office, take stock or assess key activities, and plan for the future.
The group was engaged from start to finish. Dr. David Fetterman was invited to facilitate the workshop.
The group drafted a mission and vision for the Office, refining the existing mission of the office. They continued by assessing critical aspects of the office. Then they engaged in a dialogue about their assessments.
The results of the workshop and self-assessment will be summarized in a report, highlighting key issues of concerns as well as action steps required to address these concerns. In addition, bold new ideas were proposed and will be explored in the near future.
